The chart above is of the expected path of Hurricane Gordon. We present it simply because we have found through history that many true equity market "crashes" seem to happen concominantly to some sort of geophysical activity - be it an earthquake, volcanic explosion, or hurricane. On the infamous "Black Monday" of the October 1987 "crash" for example, a freak hurricane hit London and prevented most traders from even reaching their offices. That dearth of normal participants in the market in a leading financial center certainly left room for more black holes of illiquidity to form that day.
In the current instance, Friday's close in the major equity indices certainly leaves this market hanging on the edge of a precarious set of trendlines and moving average support levels. Hurricane Gordon might just be the "excuse" to see oil push to our $37.22 Fibonacci objective, and to see equities collapse.
